Fermented Rice Water: Benefits for Hair and Skin

Rice water is just the starchy white liquid that comes to the surface of the pot during the cooking or washing of rice. However, the fermentation process boosts the properties of rice water. Simply let the water ferment until it becomes somewhat sour.

What is the similarity between rice water & fermented rice water?

How Can I Make?

  1. Take a cup of rice (any sort would do), rinse, and drain the water. 
  2. Take enough distilled water and soak the rice in it for 20 to 25 minutes.
  3.  Ensure that the water is stirred 3 – 4 times at set intervals.
  4. Once the rice has been soaked, rinse it and place it in a clean container to soak overnight.
  5. The water will turn sour the next day, signalling the start of the fermentation process. (Keep in mind that the process may take longer at low or moderate room temperatures.)
  6. To accelerate the fermentation, keep the container in a somewhat warm area of your kitchen.
  7. Finally, boil the fermented water until it is ready to use. (You can choose whether or not to boil the water.)

Hair rinse with fermented rice water

After washing, combine a cup of fermented rice water with equal amounts of plain water and just a few drops of essential oil and apply it to your hair.

  3. Rinse your hair with fermented rice water and massage it into your scalp for a few minutes.
  4. Allow the fermented rice water to sit in your hair and scalp for 20 minutes.
  5. Rinse it out with lukewarm water and thoroughly rinse your hair.

Even after seeing several films on the Yao ethnic women of Huangluo, China, it is not defined in detail how they cook it with specific measures, but the dimensions indicated above have been utilised numerous times.

The Yao ethnic women use this elixir three times each week during the summer and once per week during the winter.
