Beer with Vitamin D

AB InBev who?

Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV, also known as AB InBev, is a Belgian multinational beverage and brewing company. InBev, which was created through the merger of Interbrew from Belgium and AmBev from Brazil, acquired Anheuser-Busch from the United States to create AB InBev. It has about 630 different beer brands in 150 different countries.

The portfolio of AB InBev brands includes well-known beer and soft drink brands. As Global Brands, International Brands, and Local Champions, the firm categorized its brands. Budweiser, Corona, and Stella Artois are recognized global brands.

Global beer brand Corona launched: Zero-Alcohol Beer Sunbrew with Vitamin D

The “innovative, first-of-its-kind, non-alcoholic beer” has 60 calories per 330ml serving and contains 30% of the daily recommended dose of vitamin D (according to Canadian standards). Extract beer from Corona Extra, combine the resulting non-alcoholic beer with vitamin D and natural flavors to create this beverage called Sunbrew.

On January 5th of this year, Corona, a popular Mexican beer brand with a sizable following overseas, unveiled a brand-new invention in the non-alcoholic market. A buzz-free version of its signature brew infused with vitamin D and marked with a catchphrase “Sunshine, Anytime.” This non-alcoholic beverage is clear and pale golden in color and recommended to be served with a slice of lime. The brand intends to provide Corona Sunbrew 0.0% alcohol-free beer consumers with a revolutionary new option.

AB InBev-owned beer company Corona’s no alcohol Corona Sunbrew, a beer brand brewed in Ontario, Canada. Creative Agency DAVID Miami came up with the idea for the first-ever product in the market. Corona and DAVID Miami worked closely together to produce Corona Sunbrew 0.0% began more than two years ago. This launch also exemplifies AB InBev’s ongoing commitment to smart drinking, which aims to minimize and eliminate the harmful use of alcohol worldwide.

Challenges and initiatives

Brad Weaver, global vice president of Innovation Research & Development at AB InBev, added that including vitamin D in the brewing process required overcoming a number of obstacles. The technical team encountered numerous difficulties. Because vitamin D is extremely sensitive to oxygen and light and is not easily soluble in water, the journey was not simple. Despite these obstacles, the team managed to keep using transparent bottles (bottles initially have a six-month shelf life rather than the majority of its bottles, which have a 12-month life, while Corona will continue to evaluate it in terms of aging,).

The latest Corona marketing breakthrough is Sunbrew. Among its achievements from the previous year was the creation of an eco-friendly, sustainable six-pack holder packaging made of barley straw, the launch of the UK’s first “100% natural bar” on a UK beach, and creating its own branded private island with a focus on eco-tourism.

Through Sunbrew 0.0%, AB InBev will undoubtedly look forward to leveraging several trends, including the ‘better for you’ perception of no-and low-alcohol beverages with additional vitamins or minerals, as well as the continued expansion and excitement surrounding the non-alcoholic beer market.

The Expansion of Non-Alcoholic Beverage Market

IWSR predicts that by 2024, the overall production volume in the no/low alcohol category will increase by 31% globally. AB InBev wants non-alcoholic beer to represent 20% of its portfolio by 2025, significant increase from the 8% in 2019.

At a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.8%. The non-alcoholic beer market is anticipated to increase from $16.65 billion in 2021 to $18.29 billion in 2022. With a CAGR of 8.5%, the market for non-alcoholic beers is projected to reach $25.31 billion by 2026.

38% of Indians, according to a survey from 2021, want to move from ordinary strength beer to alcohol-free or low-alcohol beer. Young beer consumers aged 25 to 34 are particularly susceptible to the trend, with 41% of them prepared to switch to zero-or low-alcohol beers.

________

In order to win over customers, major producers, besides Ab InBev, including Heineken and Carlsberg, and others have also launched alcohol-free beverages in various regional markets. Initially, Canada introduced Corona Sunbrew 0.0%. Corona’s New Beer will debut in the UK later in 2022, followed by major markets in the rest of Europe, South America, and Asia, however exact dates are subject to local laws governing vitamin content in these regions.

In the market, non-alcoholic beer with vitamin D is bringing new possibilities. Low-alcohol beers have a similar flavor to regular beer but much fewer calories. Non-alcoholic beer enhances cardiovascular health, boosts bone mineral density, and lowers the risk of osteoporosis. The market for non-alcoholic beer is expanding as people become more aware of the advantages of these drinks. When it debuts in India, it will undoubtedly be the most popular among the young population.
